Mgr. Veronika Talafová
Veronika Talafová received her master’s degree in Organic chemistry and Biology from Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in 2017. During her master‘s degree studies she studied half a year at Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg.
She is curently studying for her PhD under the supervision of doc. Sedlák from the P. J. Šafárik University in Slovakia, and Dr. Humenik from the University of Bayreuth in Germany. Her study interests are in the international multidisciplinary field of science. Her research focus on the detailed analysis of the properties of recombinant spider silk proteins, specifically, the ADF4 sequence of dragline fibroin 4 from the European garden spider Araneus diadematus. The research tries, in particular, to understand and control the protein self-assembly and protein interaction processes. They underlie the key fundamental importance of material nanotechnology in that they are promising building blocks for bottom-up engineering of new biocompatible modular mesoscopic structures. Her Ph.D. study further focuses on scrutinizing the processes leading to fibril formation including thermodynamic analysis of the underlying structural processes.
